Indian River Lagoon
The most biologically diverse estuary in North America, the lagoon has been designated an Outstanding Florida Water and an Estuary of National Significance. The site's mangrove wetlands and salt marshes filter runoff, stabilize sediments, maintain water quality and protect shorelines from erosion.
This site is currently open, however, it has limited facilities. It is undergoing an aggressive restoration program to remove invasive plants and reintroduce native species.

Sebastian, Florida, is a quaint riverfront fishing village located on the Sebastian River, with sweeping views of the Indian River Lagoon. The city offers visitors scenic walkways and over 16 city parks, which are home to fabulous seafood feasts, foot-tapping music festivals, and colorful arts festivals, many of which provide a kid-friendly focus. Indian River Drive is a hotbed of activity and home to a variety of hotels and restaurants, and weekend getaways.
